August 3, 1941 — Bishop von Galen

70 years ago the Bishop of Münster in Germany, Blessed Clemens August, Count von Galen, who was made a cardinal in 1946, gave a sermon in which he denounced the Nazi euthanasia program. Three weeks earlier, he had denounced the actions of the Gestapo generally, and with respect to specific actions against the Church in Münster.
