Freedom Of Religion — "Freedom from;" "Freedom for"

An interesting article from another site I follow. It gives a pretty good take on the idea that the First Amendment religion clauses give us freedom from state interference in our religious lives, but believers need to use that important freedom by living the way they should.

Freedom of Religion: Link to Article in Forbes Magazine

What the title says. Here it is.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/charleskadlec/2012/02/13/the-audacity-of-power-president-obama-vs-the-catholic-church/

If you're not sure you need to read this, the non-Catholic author (who thinks the Church is wrong to oppose contraception) makes the point that the Obama Administration's regulation on health care as it applies to religious institutions is contrary to the First Amendment and basically destroys religious liberty. In his view, it's not about whether contraception is okay. So unless you are so convinced that Obama is right to force church institutions to provide policies that cover contraception and sterilization that you refuse to even listen to another viewpoint, I think this will help clarify the issue.

Links

Here are a couple of articles I found on other blogs.

The first is about religious freedom and forcing church-related institutions to do things contrary to their doctrines.

The next is an attempt at a natural law basis for traditional sexual morality.
