Apologize if you were wrong. Try to understand. Flout envy. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else.
Appreciate. Be kind, be gentle.
Laugh a little. Laugh a little more. Deserve Confidence. Take up arms against malice. Decry complacency. Express your gratitude.
Say a prayer. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child.
Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth.

The above was read at Mass last weekend. I don't know the source. The season in question is Advent, which runs from last Sunday to Christmas.
I don't claim that I'm going to do everything it says, but I think they are good ideas, and a useful antidote to the focus on material things which can overtake us.
Of course, one could continue to try to apply it also during Christmastide — Christmas to Epiphany (or in contemporary Catholic calendars, Christmas to the Baptism of the Lord). Come to think of it, no reason to stop even hen.
So to at least make a beginning: Dear Readers, I love you.
